Tooting Bec Bs 4-1 Chessington KC. Not one of our finest performances but another solid win for the boys in black and white. Rudy transitioned from Arteta to Garry Glitter in the pre-match team talk this week, describing how some of our football this season has got him “hard”, which undoubtedly got the boys up for the contest ahead…

Pre-match, which felt like an eternity as Chessington turned up stupidly late, was also defined by a dick of the day winner. Who else could it be, but Luke Johnson… lining up a penalty and getting everyone to watch before our team talk and shouting “watch this”. With no goalie in net, he somehow missed the target, with the ball hitting the crossbar and going over the fence. Pillock.

The match-up started pretty terribly, as the Bec failed to find the rhythm that has been ever-present so far this season. Nevertheless, the footballing gods smiled down on us, as a Chessington KC defender did his best Jamie Carragher impression and sliced the ball into his own net. 1-0. The Bec still weren’t getting out of second gear and were punished when we conceded our first goal in over 450 minutes of football, the oppo scoring with a fortunate but quite tidy finish. HT 1-1 and some serious work to be done.

The gaffer made some much needed tactical changes and this was immediately rewarded, with some lovely interplay and switches leading to good chances. Carlo, The Butcher of Morden, was moved into midfield and was flying into tackles, giving us some much needed bite and quality on the ball. Our better start to the half was rewarded when LJ arrived late into the box to place a rebound into the net to give us the lead. Clinical.

There was no let up, as a brilliant delivery was thumped in off of Petch’s noggin to make it 3-1, our dominance in the air continues… With 15 to go, it was the time to bring on our goals-to-minutes played ratio machine and celebration shithouse, Rohan Fernando. Some nice play down the right side meant that the ball fell to Edi Cavani, arriving late and smashing the ball in to secure another vital 3 points.

FT - 4-1 and not our best performance, but we stood up to the test of being pulled back at 1-1. Will need a stronger performance this Saturday to beat Old Ruts.

MOTM - Carlo, was absolutely everywhere in the second half and got us playing good football in midfield.

DOD - Luke, terrible penalty and still claiming it was a good penalty after missing.
