Bec took on a Dorking team who had been in good form recently looking to move up to 3rd place in CCL Division 1. Wilshere & Stone came into the line-up having missed last Wednesday’s stalemate with Westside due to illness.

The first 10 minutes set the tone for what would be an entertaining game, with both teams looking to play good football and show attacking intent. Bec took the lead early on when Oritis bundled through the visitors defence before slotting low past the keeper. Bec had started confidently and continued to push forward, but the game was turned on its head within 3 minutes. Firstly, poor marking from a corner allowed the Dorking centre-back to head home from 8 yards out. This was followed straight after by a Dorking second when their lightning quick winger completely split the Bec back line, before delivering a perfect pull back for the onrushing number 9 to slot home from 12 yards. The hosts were a bit shell shocked for the next 5 minutes and Dorking, sensing blood, pushed forward for a 3rd in an increasingly open first half. It was a relief for the home fans when the ball fell to M’Bango from a corner, and he powered home through a ruck of bodies to restore parity. Bec regained composure and saw out an enthralling first half to go in level.

The second half was a less frantic affair but no less absorbing. With both sides having expended a great amount of energy in the first half, the defences started to get on top with clear sites of goal few and far between. Dorking had the chance to take the lead with 20 minutes left but the left winger’s goal bound shot was tipped over by Machacek. Tooting were undoubtedly finishing the stronger, with a couple of low whipped in M’Bango crosses from the right somehow not being sent home by the onrushing Bec attacker. The visitors lost a man with 10 minutes to go for a second bookable after Wilshere was acrimoniously hacked down when baring through on goal, with Martin unable to take advantage of the proceeding free-kick. Bec won it in the 89th minute when a clearance from a Wanderers corner fell to Heravi who released Wilshere down the right and his cut-back was met by M’Bango to finish coolly from 15 yards out to spark jubilant celebrations.
